Prince Oko Nartey CLINCHES THE NATIONAL MIDDLEWEIGHT BELT

Middleweight prospect Prince Oko Nartey knocked out Bernard Ayi Otu in the second round of the national middleweight belt on Tuesday, 30th August 2022.

The young boxer who hails from Somanya defeated his opponent in the fiery contest after he dominated the fight from the onset.
The young boxer paid a courtesy call on the MCE. In a brief discussion with Hon. Eric Tetteh, Prince recounted some fond memories of his stay in Somanya.
He was a footballer during his childhood and he played with the likes of Patrick Razak.
However, Prince relocated to Tema and developed an interest in boxing after watching the boxing bout between Joshua Clottey and Manny Pacquaio. Prince started training personally and set up his gym in Tema community 12.
In 2019, he had the opportunity to participate in the IBO Youth Championship in Hamburg. Upon his return, he fought many bouts till he finally clinched the national middleweight title.
Prince aspires to be one of the greatest boxers from Ghana. He aims to win continental titles as well as world titles.
Therefore, the national middleweight title is a stepping stone in the right direction. Hence, he counts on the support of the people of Yilo to help him achieve his dream.
Hon. Eric Tetteh congratulated the young boxer and advised him to continue working hard. He added that he is confident that the young boxer is destined for greatness.
He concluded by stating that whiles, not every youth can become a boxing champion, he has inspired them and they can become champions in their field by persevering in attaining an education.
